St. vincent de Paul logoVoice of the Poor

I am the Spiritual Advisor of the Phoenix Voice of the Poor Committee of Saint Vincent de Paul.

What is Voice of the Poor? Exactly what it says. We speak for the poor, the homeless, the disadvantaged who have no voice nor lobby to speak for them.

As followers of Christ we are challenged to create conditions for marginalized voices to be heard, to defend the defenseless, and to assess policies and social institutions in terms of their impact on the poor.

Guided by the fundamentals of Catholic social teaching, VOP committees research and evaluate issues and governmental policies. Our positions on legislative issues must first be approved by the Diocesan Council board.

VOP works to educate Vincentians and decision makers regarding the impact of legislation on the poor and marginalized.
